When Jake went to take the snake, the snake ate his fate.
After the snake ate his fate, Jake never did take a snake again.
And the kids from the creekside all went to hide, because the snakes went far and wide.
The kids never went outside, and quietly they cried so as not to be spied.
Snakes here and there, you could go nowhere, and soon all the fairs were snake lairs.
So many snakes, and no more Jakes.
The kids from the creek could no longer seek the treats they once did eat.
The babies were born with rabies, the girls lost their curls, and boys had no toys.
If only Jake had not been so eager to take the snake and tempt his fate,
then the snake might not have ate it in the first place.
